Ginuwine set the bar high for himself right out the gate, when he burst onto the scene in 1996 with his hit single "Pony." Six albums later he's still going strong.

The 35-year old singer is set to release 'Elgin' on February 15.  The album's title was inspired by his late mother.

"My mom told me to use my name for something, she's no longer with us," Ginuwine, born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin explains of the new album's title. "She told me to use my name for something before I'm done with this business. And this doesn't mean that I'm done with this business, but when they came to me and asked what I wanted to name this cd, it just popped in my head. Hopefully she knew something I didn't know, it's the number 7 cd, that's God's number."

Both of Ginuwine's parents died in 2000. His father committed suicide, his mother died from cancer less than a year later. He was asked how their losses affect his music.

"Anybody that has their parents leave them a year after another it's gonna affect them period. I wouldn't wish that upon noone," the singer said. "But I came through it in 2005 and now I'm able to deal with it. It still hurts.. Christmas, Thanksgiving still hurts, but I'm able to move forward and continue with life."

The new album only has one feature. Rap's baddest chick, Trina appears on the song "Batteries", Ginuwine said he purposely limited the features to just one.

"When you get my cd I want you to get me period, I don't want you to get a compilation album," he said.
