Meek Mill is currently fighting a wrongful death lawsuit and his lawyers are using Bruce Springsteen's lyrics as an example for why the case should be dropped.

The situation involves a shooting that took place at a Meek concert last December. Four people were shot ... two of them died.

TMZ reports the plaintiffs in the lawsuit are arguing that the rapper's violent lyrics contributed to the tragedy. In addition, they blame Meek and the venue for providing inadequate security.

Meek (30), born Robert Williams, and his legal team filed documents with the court saying there's no way you can connect an artist's lyrics with random acts of violence.

To prove their point Meek's attorneys used Springsteen's song, "Sherry Darling," as an illustration ... posing a theoretical question about someone being injured outside one of the rocker's concerts. "Could she sue Springsteen because his songs contain lyrics like, 'Well, I got some beer and the highway's free'?"

Meek says he has no control over venue security and is asking to be dropped from the lawsuit.
