Manny Pacquiao announced recently that he has plans to run for President of the Philippines. During an interview with Agence France-Presse, the boxer compared his political aspirations to his boxing career,
"When I started boxing, of course I was planning, you know, and thinking about getting to become a champion," he said. "So when I enter politics it's the same thing. But, you know, it's far away. It's God's will."
The 34-year old Pacquiao, is already a member of the Philippine House of Representatives. He won't legally be able to run for President until the age of 40.
The former champion is coming off of a devastating knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012. He is scheduled to fight Brandon Rios in November.
Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless debated Pacquiao's future plans on ESPN's First Take. Smith thinks Pac Man's recent troubles in the ring can be attributed to him being distracted.
