With news circulating that Carolina Panthers founder and controlling owner, Jerry Richardson, will put his majority interest in the club up for sale, Diddy has announced he wants to purchase the team.
"I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!," he wrote on Twitter, Sunday December 17. "There are no majority African American NFL owners. Let’s make history."

Puffy also released a video via his Instagram account, further expressing his desire to own the franchise.
"I need to send a message out everyone in the beautiful state of North Carolina. I will be the best NFL owner that you can imagine," the Bad Boy Records CEO, says in the clip.
Richardson is being investigated by the league amid allegations of workplace misconduct.
Sports Illustrated reports that the 81-year old former Baltimore Colts player allegedly paid significant monetary settlements to at least four former Panthers employees "due to inappropriate workplace comments and conduct, including sexually suggestive language and behavior, and on at least one occasion directing a racial slur at an African-American Panthers scout."
Richardson released a statement on Sunday that read in part: “I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership. Therefore, I will put the team up for sale at the conclusion of this NFL season."
