Chris Cornell's Death Ruled A Suicide

The Wayne County, Michigan Medical Examiner's Office has ruled Chris Cornell's death a suicide by hanging. He was 52-years old.

Cornell found fame as the lead singer of the bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. His body was found on the bathroom floor in his Detroit hotel room on Wednesday night, May 17, following a Soundgarden concert.

TMZ reports that the singer's wife asked that he be checked on because she couldn't reach him by phone

A full autopsy report, including toxicology results has not yet been completed.

Many of Chris' contemporaries mourned his death via social media.

"Very sad news about Chris Cornell today. A sad loss of a great talent to the world, his friends and family. Rest In Peace," Joe Perry wrote.

"RIP Chris Cornell, Incredibly Talented, Incredibly Young, Incredibly Missed," Jimmy Page tweeted.

Gavin Rossdale wrote: "You will be missed, much respect."
