In the upcoming movie, Black Mass, Johnny Depp portrays real life Boston gangster Whitey Bulger.
In this featurette director Scott Cooper, as well as co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Julianne Nicholson, Jesse Plemons and Dakota Johnson describe the actor's complete transformation into the character.
"He's unrecognizable," Nicholson says. "I had a scene with him where his face is inches from mine. And there is no sense of another person being behind those eyes, that hair, those teeth, those scars. He's amazing."
Plot: The true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.
Black Mass opens nationwide on September 18th.
